PC Utilities review:

Regardless of whether you treat designing home interiors as a favourite hobby or a burdensome necessity, a decent 3D design program can make it much easier to find a design and floorplan that works. ShowHome 3D Interior Design is a good example of programs of this ilk, as it makes it the process of adding rooms, fixtures and fittings to your designs relatively straightforward.

The easiest way to get started is by loading up a floorplan to use as a blueprint for your design. If you have a scale drawing of your desired room layout you can set the program to use the same scale, thereby ensuring you create an accurate 3D model. Whether you choose to start with a floorplan or not, adding rooms is a simple matter of selecting them from the menu on the left then dragging them onto the required area of your design. Rooms can be easily resized as required and rotation functions can be accessed from the toolbar on the top left. As you add more rooms to your design, ShowHome 3D will add windows and doors where it deems them required, though you can delete, move or replace these manually.

In order to get a representative idea of how your home design will look, use the Structural & Fixtures and Furniture & Electrical tabs to add further items to your home design. The list of items available in the program is far from exhaustive but there's a decent range to get started with. It's even possible to add lighting to your design, which makes a real difference when you switch to 3D view.
