PC Utilities review:

If you're looking for a comprehensive media player and manager, you can't do much better than MediaMonkey. Featuring powerful organisational tools, a tidy media player component and advanced ripping and conversion options, MediaMonkey can even import usage data from iTunes, Media Player and Winamp if you don't want to start completely from scratch. Using this data and the tags in the music files themselves you can sort through your tunes and build up advanced playlists with a couple of clicks of the mouse.

For songs that aren't correctly tagged, it's possible to download the relevant artist, album and other information from Amazon or by using the data contained in the filename. You can also add custom tags reflecting the mood and tempo of a particular song - if you want a music mix for a party, for example, simply click the Party category to find all the songs with that particular label. Even with thousands of tracks to sort through, you won't find MediaMonkey missing a beat.

Many of us take our music on the move, and synchronising with portable players is another area where MediaMonkey excels. External devices will appear on the toolbar at the top of the screen and can be synchronised as required - use the Options entry to configure this process. There are plenty of other features included in MediaMonkey to explore, such as an Internet radio tuner, audio CD burning and ripping, volume normalisation and format conversion.
