PC Utilities review:
In terms of design, TuneXP couldn't be simpler. Across the top of the program's interface are five categories of tweaks - click on each one and you can view the hacks on offer in a drop-down menu. In order to apply a tweak, all you need to do is move your cursor over the option in question then select Enable from the pop-out menu or choose the option you require.
The program's options are centred around performance and most are designed to boost the speed at which Windows executes specific processes. For example, you can accelerate the speed at which Windows unloads DLLs to free up memory quicker, or increase the size of your DNS cache to improve Net speeds.
Some options, such as Faster Shutdown, are self-explanatory, whilst others rely on users being familiar with terms such as Windows Paging Executive and the IO Page Lock Limit. There are no friendly descriptions of what each hack does, so less-informed tweakers may be better off using a more friendly program. There's also no backup and restore option, though most of the tweaks can be easily reversed by accessing TuneXP and selecting a different option.

hotspurs says: Programs like this are usually good, this one has many great functions and worth downloading but remember programs editing the way windows runs are messing with registry files which is always risky but used well this program is good! (01/11/2007)
Cos says: I used this before. seemed effective and inocuous enough. (25/09/2006)
