Q: Perhaps you have the answer to a very nagging problem which I have researched on the Internet but not found a solution to? The following problems first occured after two viruses/malware were found. The first was “WindowsDefender”, the second TR/Cryptxxx. Both have been repeatedly removed or at least tried to be removed.
A: To offer specific help we’d need to know which antivirus software you have installed. From your description we suspect you may be running Avira 9, this needs to have the Windows Defender program disabled to prevent conflicts. It’s also the only antivirus program that we know of that flags TR/Crypt, this seems to be used as a generic term and may well be a false positive. We’d suggest cross checking with an online scan such as BitDefender.
