Q: Thank you for a great publication. I have, however, been frustrated by a particular problem recently with a program got from one of the cover discs, Readon TV, and wondered if you could help. I also downloaded the VLC plug-in to enable recording. The recordings are perfect but the sound has to be turned off during recording as I can hear a very delayed echo. As I said the playback on the recording is perfect but it would be nice to be able to watch and listen while it is being made. Please can you find a solution to this problem?
A: Yes, it did that when we tried it too. The problem seems to be that the VLC plug-in uses a different buffering system from the one used by Readon’s normal playback so the two are slightly out of sync. You could try going to File, Settings and enabling VLC for all playback, once you’ve done that, select the channel you want to record, don’t double-click to play it, simply right-click and select Try to record with VLC. Because this starts playback and recording at the same time they’ll be in sync, however, in our experience they do tend to slip over time if there are any glitches in the stream.
By starting recording and playback together you’ll avoid the annoying echo in Readon TV
