Q: Having read your recent article ‘Watching TV on your PC’ I purchased the KWorld USB stick but got stuck at the installation with not being able to get Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0 to install on my PC which is a vital component for TiVme to install. This is a well known problem according to Microsoft and they suggest all sorts of complex workarounds which I am not confident to undertake so have you any suggestions please for an alternative? Your article seems to suggest this from the final sentence ‘…though you’ll probably want to use a different software program.’
Not being able to install .Net Framework 3.0 may simply be down to the fact that you don’t have version 2.0 installed as this is a prerequisite of loading the newer release. Alternatively try installing 3.5 which has the earlier versions rolled in. You should find all the current .Net versions in the Essentials folder of the coverdisc.
If you have a premium version of Vista you should be able to access the tuner from Media Center without the need for any additional software. Alternatively try an open source media centre application such as Media Portal or XBMC, though with the latter make sure you can track down a plug-in to support your tuner.
Premium editions of Vista and Windows 7 include Media Center which should be able to access your TV tuner
