Sending email to a number of recipients from a conventional mail client means that you have to create a separate message for each person if you want the output to be personalised. A bulk mailer program gets around this by merging addresses and other details from a file in order to send each person their own individual message.
Take a look at SendBlaster which offers lots of customisation options, though the free version is limited to 100 messages per day. If you need to send more than that you can upgrade to the pro version for 75 euros. Alternatively Vallen e-Mailer is a simpler, no-install program with fewer features but no restrictions.
