The DVD has changed the way we consume film and TV programmes and it’s doing the same for software. All new PCs come with a DVD drive and we’re rapidly approaching a time when commercial programs will only be supplied on DVD — it’s already happened with Windows Vista.

In this issue we’re concentrating on the movie aspects of using DVDs, including editing videos and adding effects. But you’ll find we’ve included plenty of programs to help you use them for other things too, such as backing up or archiving your data.
